When I saw this image of Tupac, the American Hip Hop singer, who was assassinated in 1996, I wanted to capture just a tight crop of his face with the explosion of white and a tear of what looked like blood. He is such of symbol of a young black man in America with a family legacy of parents who fought for racial equality and justice. He has continued that legacy for his generation and many that have followed. The white explosion is a symbol of his beatification for those generations.
